What differs CeruLean Fit from other personal training services?CeruLean Fit's personal training is an all-inclusive experience for elite level athletes. We offer fitness and nutrition coaching at the forefront; but our services also include injury rehab, massage, active and passive release therapy, physiotherapy, and cupping.

How long is each session?Our sessions are as long as they need to be. Athletes have higher physical work capacities than the average person. This means the session ends when the work or lesson is done. Different people require different tactics, perspectives and experiences to learn information in new ways. Early on, the sessions are much longer because there is more to learn, initially. How do you learn a new skill in sports? You practice it over and over and over again until it's muscle memory. That is the same way fitness goes as well - you practice warm ups, soft tissue work, highly technical movements repeatedly until you've mastered them.

What is the minimum age my child needs to be to train?We'll answer that question with another question: do you believe your child is ready? At CeruLean Fit, there isn't technically a minimum age. There is however, a minimum level of maturity. We have mature 8 year-olds that are focused on developing their athletic skills to the next level. We're not a company that babysits kids for playground games. We only take on clients that have serious aspirations for using sports to advance their education or play professionally. With that being said, from a general standpoint, if children can exercise in a safe environment then there is no minimum age for kids to workout.

What if my schedule and my kid's schedule doesn't work for your trainers?Our hybrid training model combines courses, training programs, and home workouts so that you will never miss a workout. We have a team of trainers ready to help you. This way, you aren't held hostage to one trainer's schedule.

What sports do you create fitness programs for?We create fitness programs for every sport. Some sports have some carryover exercises and program structure - such as baseball and cricket, or rugby and football. However, these sports also have their nuances as well as different demands for the season - football has one big game every week, while the baseball schedule allows for multiple games played in one day.

How long are the programs?Typically, we like to program for a full season + offseason of the sport(s) your child specializes in. In most cases, this is a calendar year.

How are the programs planned?There are typically 8 phases to our programs. Starting in the beginning of the offseason, this is the order of those phases: 1) Movement Quality / Anatomical Adaptation 2) Stability Phase 3) Endurance Phase 4) Hypertrophy Phase 5) Strength Phase 6) Power Phase 7) Speed Phase 8) Sport Specific Phase Each phase focuses on a different aspect of fitness and it builds the athlete naturally towards the next phase.

What is your system for incorporating programs and personal training?Typically we have skilled athletes from all over the Greater Toronto Area coming to us. A lot of them come once per week because it's a long drive. We spend extra time with them in the session to make sure they have all their requirements met. When they're not with us, they use our fitness app to help supplement their private training. Our fitness app has video training tutorials and structured exercises with progressive overload. We also provide the equipment necessary to continue getting workouts in while our athletes are on the road.

How do you teach my child about nutrition?We sit down with you and your child to discuss a custom comprehensive nutrition plan that is tailored to the way your family dynamics work. That way, you're both on the same page and can plan grocery shopping and dining out accordingly.

How do you keep us accountable?We check in on you every session. We briefly go over what you ate over the course of the previous week and we make modifications and adjustments accordingly.

Do you provide us with recipes?Yes! We have custom recipes with calories and macros tracked for you. We also give you meal plans and make it simple for you to track nutrition. We coach you through how to prep food, make grocery lists, as well as make nutrition simple to save time. We also help you plan your nutrition for road tournaments and games by looking at restaurant menus in advance and planning out how to eat on the road.

With over 16 years of experience in personal training, nutrition and specialized strength and conditioning for athletic development, Shahad's passion is training athletes for peak levels of performance and helping people become the best version of themselves. He guides elite athletes and highly motivated people to reach their full potential. He used to play competitive baseball before a debilitating knee injury derailed his career. He spent years muddling through the system attempting to rehab his knee while maintaining his athletic performance before taking the initiative to learn it all himself. Now he vows to make sure no one has to endure what he went through. His philosophy is focusing on getting people healthy, building a stable foundation of skills as well as helping his clients and athletes become well rounded both mentally and physically.
